OGAP is currently working with scientists and research institutions to secure funding for vessel and laboratory construction, genomic data analysis and Ocean Genome Atlas design from foundations, private individuals and US and EU funding agencies.
Equipment Procurement and Testing
OGAP aims to partner with laboratory and genomic equipment scientists and manufacturers to test and deploy next generation machines in a challenging in-field environment.
Logistical Support
As OGAP will be operating in all of the world’s oceans we will rely on and coordinate with local NGOs, governments, international agencies, intellectual property experts, shipping and logistics companies, marine forecasters as well as local support vessel operators.
Organization & Governance
The Ocean Genome Atlas Project (OGAP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Founded on March 26, 2021, it is organized as a public benefit corporation under California law. OGAP is managed by the five-person board of directors identified on the Team page. Peter Molnar is the Chairman of OGAP's Board of Directors, which is the equivalent of a president or chief executive officer under California law. In addition to being a board member, Tyler Meade is OGAP's Secretary and Treasurer. None of OGAP's officers or directors receive any direct or indirect compensation.
